Privacy Policy
Rivers Foundation (“we”, “us”), registered charity no. 1078545, is responsible for the personal information described here, under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy covers riversfoundation.co.uk.
Our approach
We take a privacy-first approach. BoldThings, our technology partner, designs, builds and runs the software behind our services, rather than relying on a patchwork of outside tools. That means we keep third parties to a minimum, we know where your information is, and we review what each of our services uses.
We don’t use third-party advertising trackers or third-party analytics services. Any measurement of how our services are used is done by our own systems and is never sold or shared with advertising networks.
What we collect
We collect the information you give us (for example when you enquire, book, join, sign up, apply or contact us) and information created when you use our services (for example your visits, bookings, purchases, rewards, messages and how you use our websites and apps).
How we use it
To provide and improve our services; to manage bookings, memberships, rewards and accounts; to reply to you; to keep our services safe and prevent fraud; to understand what works so we can make it better; to meet our legal obligations; and, where you have agreed, to send you news and offers. We use automated tools, including AI, to help us run and improve our services; a person remains responsible for any decision that significantly affects you.
Our lawful bases
We rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and improving our business (balanced against your rights), our legal obligations, and your consent where we ask for it (for example marketing). You can withdraw consent at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with carefully chosen providers who help us run our services (such as hosting, email, payments, bookings and specialist software), under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions, and where the law requires it.
Where it is kept
Your information is stored securely. Where a provider handles it outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we keep it
Only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including to meet legal, accounting and reporting requirements. Then we delete or anonymise it.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to make our websites work and to remember your preferences. We don’t use advertising or third-party analytics cookies, so there is nothing to opt in to.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or move your information, object to or restrict how we use it, and opt out of marketing at any time. To make a request, email ajrultra@btinternet.com.
