The Bahia Street Trust was set up with the goal of breaking the cycles of poverty and violence through educational opportunities for impoverished young women and girls in Brazil. Bahia is in one of the poorest parts of Northeastern Brazil, where young girls face huge challenges getting an education and building a better life for themselves and their children.
The Bahia Street Trust has been operating since the early 1980’s and has evolved to support infants, children through primary school and those needing assistance with secondary education, as well as their parents.
